What to check
Code only – or fingerprint? The basic Keypad opens with a code only. The Keypad 2 also stores up to 20 fingerprints and up to 200 codes, each with its own access rights – handy for kids who forget codes, or a cleaner who should only get in on Tuesdays.
Which smart lock do you have? According to Nuki, the Keypad 2 works with every Smart Lock from the 2nd generation on and with the Smart Door; the basic Keypad works with all generations. The Keypad 2 NFC needs a Matter-capable smart lock: Ultra, Pro, Go or 4th generation.
NFC: open the door with your iPhone. With the Keypad 2 NFC you hold an iPhone or Apple Watch to the keypad – using an Apple home key from Wallet (iPhone XS or newer on iOS 18.6, Apple Watch Series 4 or newer on watchOS 11.6). Samsung Digital Home Key also needs a compatible SmartThings hub, and the Apple home key a Matter controller. Without a hub, the Nuki app's App Mode works.
No Bridge, no Wi-Fi needed. The keypad talks to the lock directly over Bluetooth, regardless of Bridge, Wi-Fi module or Thread remote access. Codes are stored in the smart lock; with remote access to the lock you can also hand out codes while you're away. Nuki says the keypad also works with the Opener, but without a guarantee because of Bluetooth range.
Mounting without drilling. The keypad goes outside next to the door, stuck or screwed to the frame or wall – adhesive strips, screws and plugs are included, no wiring needed. Because it hangs outside, Nuki replaces a stolen Keypad 2 for free with a copy of the police report and the original invoice.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Nuki Keypad and Keypad 2?
The Keypad (€89) opens with a code only and runs up to 18 months on two coin cells. The Keypad 2 (€159) opens with a code or a fingerprint, stores up to 200 codes and 20 fingerprints, and is IP54 rated (nuki.io, 18 October 2026).
Does the Keypad 2 work with my smart lock?
According to Nuki it works with every Smart Lock from the 2nd generation on and with the Smart Door, so also with the Go, Pro and Ultra. The basic Keypad works with all generations, the Keypad 2 NFC only with Matter-capable smart locks (Ultra, Pro, Go and 4th generation).
Do I need a Bridge or Wi-Fi for the keypad?
No. The keypad connects to the smart lock directly over Bluetooth. You only need remote access to hand out codes while you're away.
How is the keypad mounted?
Outside next to the door on the frame or wall, with adhesive strips or screws – both are included. No wiring or special tools needed.
What if the keypad gets stolen?
Nuki replaces a stolen Keypad 2 for free if you send a copy of the police report and the original invoice.
What does the Keypad 2 NFC do?
On top of code and fingerprint, it opens the door when you hold an iPhone or Apple Watch with an Apple home key to it. It costs €179 and needs a Matter-capable smart lock; in the Home Set Pro NFC with the Smart Lock Pro it costs €399 instead of €458.
Does the Nuki discount code work on the keypad?
Our code gives new customers 10% off orders over €149 in the official Nuki shop. The Keypad 2 (€159) and Keypad 2 NFC (€179) are above that on their own; the basic Keypad (€89) only together with a smart lock.
Our pick
For most people the Keypad 2 is the right choice: fingerprint plus code, 200 codes with their own schedules, and at €159 it is above the minimum for our code on its own. The basic Keypad for €89 is enough if you only use codes or have a 1st-generation Smart Lock. The Keypad 2 NFC makes sense if everyone at home uses an iPhone and you already have a Matter controller. For the Smart Lock Go, the Home Set Basic bundles it with the basic Keypad for €209 instead of €238.
10% off your keypad
New customers get 10% off orders over €149 in the official Nuki shop with our Nuki discount code – the Keypad 2 then costs €143.10 instead of €159, the Keypad 2 NFC €161.10 instead of €179.
